Chapter 7
I woke up to a dimly lit room, the only light coming from the moon that shone through my open balcony. I felt something cold and hard pressed against my skin, and I looked down to see that I was only wearing my nightshirt and the necklace I had acquired earlier that day. Suddenly, I noticed a small man in dirty rogue attire creeping towards me. My heart racing, I tried to move away, but my body felt frozen.
The man was getting closer and closer, and I could see the hunger in his eyes. I tried to scream, but no sound escaped my lips. My mind raced as I tried to think of a way to defend myself, but it was too late. He was only a few feet away from me now, and I knew that my fate was sealed.
Suddenly, as the man came closer, the gem in the necklace began glowing brightly. The man stared at it, his movements becoming slower and more sluggish by the second. He seemed to be dazed, as if under some mystical power that he could not resist.
As he continued to move towards me, his eyes locked on the glowing gem, I saw the fear in his eyes for the first time. The necklace had saved me. The man stopped, seemingly unsure of what to do next. I watched, terrified, as he slowly backed away, still staring at the glowing gem.
But just as I thought I was safe, I heard a loud crash coming from the other room. The man seemed to snap out of his daze and began to make a break for it. Suddenly, the door burst open, and Raggs charged into the room, snarling and barking at the man.
The intruder tried to fight back, but Raggs was too fast, too strong. He attacked the man with a ferocity that I had never seen before. The man, clearly taken aback by Rags' sudden appearance, made a run for the balcony. Rags chased after him, barking furiously.
I saw the man leap off and disappear into the night. Raggs ran to the edge, barking furiously, but the man was gone. I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I realized he would not be back.
I collapsed onto the bed, trembling with fear and exhaustion. I couldn't believe what had just happened. I had thought that my day couldn't get any worse, but now, as I lay there, I realized that it had just taken a terrifying turn.
As I lay there, still trembling, I felt a strange sense of calm wash over me. It was as if the necklace had imbued me with some sort of power or protection. I knew that I would never forget this night, or the lessons I had learned. I would always be grateful to Raggs, and this strange, magical necklace that had saved my life.
